Bethany Bishop is an expressionist figurative and abstract painter. Her primary focus lies in creating large-scale pieces that command attention. Her signature style features dimensional and textured figures created using her distinctive palette knife technique. These figures are contrasted against bold, colorful backgrounds inspired by Rothko’s color field paintings. In addition to her figurative work, Bethany's artistic process yields abstract pieces. These emerge from her studio, where canvas lines the walls and floor, serving as a playground for experimentation and creative exploration.

Bethany grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina where she studied art from a young age. Her focus was primarily on classical watercolor architecture and portraits. Rather than continuing to study art in college, she chose to study fashion retail at The University of Alabama because the curriculum was “half creative and half business.” After earning her degree she moved to Muscle Shoals, Alabama where she began her work in the fashion industry. Her experience as a merchant, planner and buyer have deeply shaped her artistic style. This is evidenced in her understanding of the human form, appreciation of texture and use of color.
